And you thought that the big bang theory was only about astronomy? Check out the hottest beauty contest of the city that had all eyes rolling.

The beginning

After two years of being in the industry, TE has made a foray into the world of modelling that seems to invite a lot of promising talents from the region. The response was overwhelming with more than 200 entries from different nooks and corners of Northeast. We selected 24 contestants, and initiated, what was going to be the most glamorous event of the Northeast. The girls, all in their late teens, took our breath away as we interacted with them for the 21 days that they were being groomed for the show. Sundays got carried away in the chirpy titter tatter of the enthusiastic females and before long, the momentous evening was round the corner. Take a look at what they did all those days leading up to the big event. The grooming

Modelling is not all about glitz. The hard labour that goes into it might be betrayed by the glamour associated with modelling, but the fact is that models sweat it out as much as anybody else does. Our contestants also got a taste of it when they went through the rigorous training schedule. From the gym to the etiquette classroom, the girls spent a substantial time in imbibing the fitness regime and improving their diction. Jettwings Institute of Airhostess Training and Management (Guwahati), our grooming partner, engaged their experts for teaching the right attitude and etiquette to our girls. And that’s not all. Designer and fashion choreographer, Sandeep Cherian taught the girls the most essential part of modelling – the catwalk. Moving with poise and learning how to keep themselves fit, the girls had their first brush with professional modelling in these grooming sessions. The experience

While the TE team shared their excitement, the young ladies got along with each other in their joys and sorrows, hopes and disappointments as they slowly inched closer towards achieving their beautiful dreams. Some were pursuing a teenage wish and some others were planning to make a serious career out of it. But whatsoever the plans, the hard work took them on a tough ride to reach the top. After all, it’s not so easy to become eye-candy! Amidst all the stress of getting trained for the contest, TE took the girls out for a break to the Shooting Range at Kahilipara, Guwahati. A prelude to get the right shot through the bull’s eye! The event

The 12th of September is definitely going to be marked as one of the most memorable days in the diaries of all the contestants of Vivel The Eclectic Model Hunt 2008! Though the eve of the contest wore them out, the girls exuded tremendous vigour on the day of the show. With the venue getting filled by late evening, the show started with a welcome address by the comperes, Sattyakee D’com Bhuyan and Shrimoyee Raina Sharma.

The DC, Kamrup (Metro) Mr. Prateek Hajela, who was the Chief Guest, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Besides, the panel of judges for the evening comprised of renowned writer, painter and poet Mrs. Rashmi Narzary, COO, Bharti Airtel (NESA) Mr. Sudipto Choudhury, internationally acclaimed fashion choreographer Anup Bannerjea, Miss India-Britain 2008 Radha Brahmbhatt and Mr. Sachin Tahiliani from the Pantaloons Femina Miss India management.

Apart from the well-choreographed sequences of the ramp shows, the Model Hunt was interspersed with some special moments of entertainment. A melodious performance by singer Amit Paul and the local rock band Casino Blues had the audience asking for more. Padmashree Indira P P Bora’s students swayed to the moves of Sattriya and a fusion dance, while a local salsa troupe left the audience spellbound. And while the dancers enthralled the audience, RJ Mandy and RJ Hansraj from BIG 92.7 FM entertained the crowd with their lively interaction.
